2. Prepare the countertop. Before you start polishing, you need to prepare the countertop. This involves cleaning the surface with a damp cloth to remove any dust or debris. You should also tape off any areas of the countertop that you do not want to polish.

3. Start with the coarsest grit pad. The first step is to start with the coarsest grit pad (100-grit). Attach the pad to the polisher and turn the polisher on to the lowest speed. Hold the polisher against the countertop and move it back and forth in a circular motion. Keep the polisher moving to prevent it from burning the countertop.
